Ready for a game that's rather graphic, riddled with gore elements, and not for the faint-hearted? Then today's #SteamSpotlight feature is just right up your alley.
But before we get to that, here's a brief explainer for those who are reading a #SteamSpotlight feature for the first time. #SteamSpotlight is basically a series that we do thrice a week that features games available on Steam. We do not stick to just one genre when it comes to our features nor do we have a bias for developers, publishers, or games with the most reviews. Anything quite simply goes here.
Now that we have that out of the way, here is what you have to know about today's feature, a single-player action role-playing game (RPG) know as Maneater.
#SteamSpotlight Feature: Maneater
As just mentioned, Maneater is a single-player action RPG. The game is developed and published by Tripwire Interactive and released on May 25, 2021. If you are wondering why the game is called Maneater, it is because you are a great big shark in this game.
Yep, you read that right.
"Starting as a small shark pup, you are tasked with surviving the harsh world while eating your way up the ecosystem," the game's Steam page reads. The game features an open world that lets you, as the shark, eat both wildlife and humas alike.
The open world features a total of seven regions, including the open ocean as well as resort beaches. There is also a full day and night cycle in the game.

Other Things You Have to Know About Maneater
Does this mean that all you have to do as a shark is to wander around aimlessly, eating people and other sea creatures left and right? Not really.
Maneater does have a story-based campaign and it is even narrated by Chris Parnell from "Rick and Morty" and "Saturday Night Live." The story revolves largely around your goal "to get revenge on the cruel fisherman that dismembered you," according to the game's Steam page.
Helpless sea creatures and humans are also not the only ones you will encounter in the game. There are other apex predators in the ocean as well that you will have to go head-to-head with. On the other hand, human hunters are also out to get you.

Steam Reviews for Maneater
Maneater has more than 6,000 user reviews on Steam as of press time. These reviews are generally described as "Very Positive" by the platform.
A Steam user who goes by the handle ShuggyK says in a review, that Maneater is a "fun game which does a great parody of TV pap and life as a shark, fun boss fights, and some crazy evolutionary skills."
Another Steam user who goes by the handle Eric of Arkham likens playing the game to another video game, Jaws Unleashed, due to the two games' similarities. Both are shark games that place the shark in a sandbox setting.
