Skyrim's character creator isn't exactly the most robust one out there. But this one player managed to get the absolute most of it by basically recreating herself in-game with stunning (and we daresay, scary) accuracy.
The Skyrim player, who goes by the username AureliaRiddle on Reddit, posted the result of her character creation efforts on the game's subreddit just recently. The image was a side-by-side comparison of her real face and her in-game character, but that's not all she made: she also recreated her father's face with the same insane level of detail:
According to a report by Kotaku, the feat cost AureliaRiddle about two hours of work and some mods that add more sliders to the base in-game character creator. A few of the mods also introduced a far higher polygon count and way better textures than what the vanilla Elder Scrolls game had. The results were nothing short of spectacular, as you can see in the post above.
When asked how she was able to do this, Aurelia shared that she had to take two photos of herself: one of her face from the front and one from the side. She also said that working with a mirror could do some folks good, though she said that taking pictures was the "easier" route.
Upon taking the photos, she advises people to keep their facial expression as neutral as possible, "like taking a picture for a passport." Afterwards, she advises that people really just focus on recreating half the face - not the entire one. That's because according to her, games can only ever had perfectly symmetrical face shapes - unlike in real life where everything is unique.
To cap things off, she tells folks to print out the mirrored image and fold it in half right down the middle. This will allow you to hold half of your face to the screen, as you work on the other in-game. Aurelia says you're done if you start "getting an uncanny feeling while looking at the screen."

Where Does Skyrim's Character Creator Rank Among All-Time Greats?
Back when Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched in 2011, its character creator feature was one of the most advanced of its time. And over the years, the system has gotten major updates that completely pushes the realm of what's possible with what Bethesda did all those years ago.
Now, a fairly modern Skyrim character creator with mods ranks among the best ever, according to TheGamer. It managed to beat out the likes of The Sims 4, Baldur's Gate 3, the Demon's Souls Remake, Greedfall, and even Bethesda's very own Fallout 4. But it just fell short of Cyberpunk 2077 and the eventual topnotcher as per their list, which is Black Desert Online.
Either way, what AureliaRiddle managed to achieve with a heavily modded Skyrim character creator is only the beginning of great things. Advanced character creation tech already exists as a demo for now, with the perfect example being Unreal Engine's MetaHuman Creator. Well, just freaking look at the possibilities:
