Both Starfield And Redfall Has Been DELAYED To 2023, Says Bethesda

Starfield And Redfall Gets DELAYED To 2023, As Both Games Need More Polish

If you've been patiently waiting for Starfield and Redfall to come out this year, you're out of luck. Bethesda has already announced that both games are delayed to 2023, with no definitive release date for each.

The announcement was made on Twitter, wherein Bethesda's reasoning was laid out. As reported by Windows Central, the two games' development teams' "incredible ambitions" are what necessitated the delays, with them looking to deliver the most polished versions of the games possible. Here is the official Twitter announcement:

Out of the two games, only Starfield had an original release date of November 11th. Redfall, on the other hand, didn't; though it was pegged to come out this year too. Either way, these two games are also expected to get their deep-dive gameplay reveals "soon," though Bethesda didn't give a vague window when.

Aside from the announcement of the Redfall and Starfield delay, there really isn't much to it. But there is a great possibility that both games are more or less "complete" in a certain way already. And since they're developed by Bethesda and Arkane Austin, they're bound to be filled with game-breaking bugs that the devs are working hard to quash before they're out.

The two Xbox exclusives are now expected to launch in the first half of 2023. That means January to June, barring anymore delays.

Out of the two games, one can argue that Starfield is the most anticipated. It is, after all, the first Xbox exclusive from the long-time Skyrim maker; not to mention Bethesda's first brand-new IP since the Elder Scrolls series. It has likewise been confirmed as a Day One release on Xbox Game Pass.

But with it being delayed to 2023, this means that Microsoft will be one ace up its sleeve short for the tightly contested Holiday 2022 window. As for Redfield, it was originally slated for a Summer 2022 release, as reported by Tom's Guide.

Everything We Know About Starfield And Redfall So Far

We at GameNGuide have covered Starfield a couple of times in the past. For one, it was reported that Bethesda is allowing the players of their space RPG to "join the bad guys if they want to" - a choice that will be an integral part of the game's overall narrative.

Aside from that, Bethesda has also said that it aims for a "NASA-Punk" visual style to Starfield in order to make it feel more grounded and realistic - while also still being fictional.

On the case of Redfall, that game is basically a mix of Back 4 Blood and DEATHLOOP. The only difference is that as much as four players will be pitted against vampires in the titular town of Redfall. The game was first announced during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2021 with a trailer:
