'Elden Ring' Player Beats The Game Using Only... His Bum

This 'Elden Ring' Player Just Beat The Game Using Only A Butt Slam

Another day, another time for an amazing (or perhaps super weird) Elden Ring playthrough.

Don't miss these best mods that you can use in "Elden Ring."

Our old friend Distortion2 is back with yet another blast through FromSoftware's newest Soulsborne, and he did it the unconventional way: beating the game using only his butt. According to IGN, this feat was achieved solely by using the ability called Ground Slam Ash of War.

As the title of this article reveals, this ability involves the character jumping up high into the air, then slamming back down on the ground on their butts. Distortion uploaded an over two-hour video of the Elden Ring run on his channel, and it is quite amusing to watch:

He didn't use a timer for this entire run, however. As such, we cannot know how long it took him to beat the game by strategically using his character's butt slam. Although he did mention in the YouTube video that he could do a speedrun of this style if the gameplay ends up being "chill and fun." So maybe watch out for that.

Why This Elden Ring Run Is Impressive

If you watched the video, there are more things that make this "unique" Elden Ring playthrough interesting. For one, it could be easy to do this "butt only" playthrough if you have an already overpowered character. But Distortion2 ensured that he only used a fresh character build for the entire duration, choosing the Prophet class for the build.

Furthermore, he did beat all of the game's "Remembrance" bosses (i.e. the toughest, mandatory ones) using just that one ability. He also seemed to be streaming his entire gameplay on Twitch, judging by the chat overlay at the top right of the screen, so the playthrough is not too altered in any way (aside from being cut to be uploaded to YouTube.

Lastly, Ground Slam Ash of War itself is not some sort of be-all, end-all attack if you manage to upgrade it. According to Eurogamer, it requires a good amount of skill to actually pull it off and deal great damage. That's because the wind-up does take time, which the boss can use to interrupt it and deal damage on their own.

One may argue that this playthrough could be even more impressive than Distortion2's own world-record-setting, sub-nine-minute speedrun, which we reported here earlier.

Other Unique Elden Ring Playthroughs To Check Out

Distortion2 is far from the only Elden Ring player who has found a "creative" or challenging way to beat the new FromSoftware game. There are others out there, and they're all amazing runs of their own.

One playthrough had a Twitch streamer beat the game without taking damage of any kind. No fall damage, no bleeding damage, nothing. According to Kotaku, the streamer who goes by the handle Seki had to practice for over 130 hours to pull it off.

Another Elden Ring playthrough featured a so-called "pacifist" run. Player IronPineapple managed this feat by making heavy use of spirit summons to do the dirty work of handing out damage for him. Here's a video of the entire playthrough:

Lastly, there was a player by the name of Super Louis 64 who beat an Elden Ring boss using the Nintendo Ring Fit controller. While he didn't play through the entire game using the Ring Fit, he did beat the boss Bloodhound Knight Darriwil on his first try, writes NintendoLife. Here's a video of him pulling it off on Twitter:
