17 Pokemon Type Combinations That Currently Don't Exist | From Worst to Best

Pokemon types get interesting as the new game version arrives. The unusual combinations surprise the fans as to how the professional players can execute them in the actual tourney.

For this article, we will discuss Wolfe "Wolfey" Glick's take on these types that currently do not exist yet. The 2016 Pokemon VGC champion will rank them from worst to best.

VGC rockstar Wolfey shared his thoughts on the Pokemon type combinations that still don't exist in the games.

According to his previous clip, there were 17 type combinations that still do not exist in every Pokemon game. Wolfey noted that only the typings would be considered in the discussion.

In addition, the 26-year-old Pokemon geek included that specific instances for a type won't be considered. These include the Pokemon's general movepool and individual base stats. The current metagame is also out of the picture, according to Wolfey.

Normal/Ice

According to Glick, this combination deals neutral damage to some types. Wolfey said that Normal is an abysmal pairing with Ice because of its two times weakness to Fighting. This combo will take four times weakness from such typing and two times from fire, steel, and rock.

It's also noteworthy to consider that this combination only has one resistance in the form of Ice and one immunity (Ghost). Overall, this is a terrible combination, even though it's quite good for offense.

Normal/Bug

Although it's not as worse as Normal/Ice, it can only hit Dark, Psychic, and Grass for super-effective damage.

Normal/Poison

It's a slightly better version of Normal/Bug, but this combination needs to be careful against Ground and Fighting. It's a good defensive set, not a good offensive combination.

Normal/Rock

Defensively, this type of combination has two times weakness in Water, Steel, Grass, and Ground and four times weakness against Fighting. However, it's still bad against Steel types.

Dark/Bug

Having five weaknesses, this sub-par Pokemon-type combo is surprisingly not yet available in any game. It can only hit Dark, Psychic, Grass, and Ghost.

Ice/Poison

With Ice as the worst defensive type and Poison as the worst offensive type, this combination has a lot of loopholes. It has an upper hand to hit Fairy and Dragon, however.

Bug/Dragon

Flygon could have been the first Bug/Dragon if Pokemon did not mess up with its plans. Having said that, this combination has five weaknesses and takes only 1/2 damage from Fighting, Water, Ground, and Electric. However, both stabs resist Fairy and Steel.

Normal/Steel

This Pokemon-type combination shines because of its 10 resistances and two immunities (Poison and Ghost). It falls, however, in its four times weakness against Fighting, making it harder to use for an offense.

Fighting/Ground

This surprising duo can hit eight super-effective types. However, it does not excel in hitting Flying and Bug types. It might be applicable for a glass-cannon attacker.

Fire/Grass

It does not make sense to combine these two types, although it's promising because it only has three weaknesses: Rock, Poison, and Flying. Being able to resist Fairy, Electric, and Steel is a highly-valuable synergy for the offense.

Poison/Steel

Having a Poison/Steel Pokemon could be a huge threat in a competitive battle. This defensive combo is painful to deal with. Although it's four times weak against Ground, it gets six normal resistances and three four-times resistances in Bug, Grass, and Fairy. It's also immune to Poison.

Ghost/Rock

This combination gets immunities to Normal and Fighting, despite having two times weaknesses to Dark, Grass, Water, Ghost, Steel, and Ground. It can hit Psychic, Ice, Fire, Ghost, Bug, and Flying for super-effective damage.

Fairy/Fighting

Fairy/Fighting combo can hit Rock, Dragon, Ice, Dark, Steel, Normal, and Fighting in exchange for its inability to hit Poison types.

Electric/Fighting

This could be more interesting if the Pokemon with this type could have an Electric physical move or a special attack Fighting move.

Fire/Fairy

Another combo that avoids steel types is Fire/Fairy. It can also easily counter Dragon types. Wolfey said that it could be the best type of combination if it currently exists.

Fairy/Ground

Having two immunities (Electric and Dragon) makes it a dangerous pick for competitive battle.

Normal/Ghost

This type just got released in the latest "Pokemon Arceus Legends," where the regional variants of Zorua and Zoroark were introduced. Originally, this pairing has only one weakness to Dark and three immunities to Normal, Fighting, and Ghost, making it difficult to beat.

In other news, Bleeding Cool reported that the "Pokemon TCG" just released the first set of cards for this year, including "Sword & Shield - Brilliant Stars."
