Hearthstone iPad Version Released in Several Regions, Out Worldwide 'Soon'

Blizzard's free-to-play battle card game Hearthstone is out of beta and in full release, with the iPad version now following suit. The iOS edition of the game has been released in New Zealand, Australia and Canada, and the developers say it will be available everywhere else "soon".

The World of Warcraft-themed card game had been available on PC and Mac in an open beta until March 12, when the game released in full. Not too much changed from the beta to the complete version, because Blizzard had been tweaking the game along the way.

The iPad version should be the same game, and if you're not in one of the three countries that already got the title and are wondering when you will, Blizzard says, "Pretty soon it'll be available everywhere."

"The game is a natural fit for tablets," Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime is said in the company's press release "We encourage everyone to check it out on their couch, in their backyard, in a coffee shop...or anywhere else they take their iPads."

The simple to play and accessible card game does indeed seem a good fit for touch devices, and Blizzard is planning versions for Android and Windows tablets as well. You will require an internet connection to play the game since you compete online, so you can't truly take it anywhere (no subway playing!), but that's a small price to play for a completely free game.

It's unclear when exactly "soon" is, but I imagine the iPad version of Hearthstone will be available to the rest of the world within the next few days.
