A "Nintendo Switch Sports" dataminer claims to have found new game modes to be added to the game in the future, once it's already been released.
DotESports reports that the alleged dataminer, who goes by the name Wipeoutjack7 on Twitter, posted some code they're claiming to be from the game that shows two new unannounced game modes: dodgeball and basketball. Here is their tweet:
As per the dataminer, these two modes could have been originally part of the game but was since scrapped. There is no indication that it is real, though, since there's no way to know for sure until Nintendo themselves announce the game modes to the public.
The alleged dataminer is also somebody relatively unknown in the space, though NintendoLife reported that another dataminer called ToyConGarageVR vouched for them. One thing you should know about datamining games is that it is often not a clear indication of whether new content will come.
For now, all of the game modes that will come to "Nintendo Switch Sports" are as follows: golf, tennis, bowling, and chambara (swordplay), as well as soccer, volleyball, and badminton, writes Dexerto. If you recognize them, a handful of these game modes are returnees from the original Wii Sports game, with the last three being newcomers.
"Nintendo Switch Sports" was announced at the recently concluded Nintendo Direct presentation last February 9th. It was billed as the "spiritual successor" to the massively popular Wii Sports, which hasn't seen a revival since the mid-2000s. "Switch Sports," as the name suggests, is coming to Nintendo's handheld console, but NOT the Switch Lite due to its motion controls requiring the Joy-Con controllers.
As such, you can only play the game on the base Nintendo Switch, or the newly released Switch OLED model from last year.

How Will Dodgeball And Basketball Work In 'Nintendo Switch Sports?'
The alleged dodgeball and basketball game modes, whether they're real or not, will certainly be new additions to "Switch Sports" in the long run. But considering the history of Wii Sports, maybe Nintendo can make them work with the Joy-Con motion controls.
Basketball, if you're not aware, was already part of the Wii Sports games way back. According to ComicBook.com, it was included in 2009's "Wii Sports Resort" where players had a choice between three-point shootout and 3 vs 3 modes against other players. Here is a gameplay video of it featuring YouTuber TroydanReacts:
But while basketball was already something that existed then, dodgeball didn't. So it could be interesting to see how Nintendo could pull such a game mode off, considering how it requires so much body movement to play in real life.
Either way, "Switch Sports" is coming out to the base Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED on April 29th offering the game modes tennis, bowling, chambara, soccer, badminton, and volleyball.
