Saber Interactive announced via a Twitter post that Evil Dead: The Game, the newest addition to the Evil Dead video game franchise, will have its release date delayed until May 13.
The horror game that has Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash Williams, according to VG247.com, was originally planned to be released in August 2021 until it was pushed to February 2022 to give its gameplay and other elements a polish.
According to Nintendo Life, the developers of the game wrote in the Tweet that the reason behind the delay was to ensure that it will give the best possible Evil Dead experience to its players, saying that it will be groovy as hell.
They also added that the delay would give them the time needed to get things right.

To make up for the delay, they released a new trailer for the game that revealed the details regarding pre-order for its Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector's Edition.
According to The Nerd Stash, players who purchased the Standard Edition days before the May release will receive the S-Mart Employee and the Gallant Knight outfits, and all are based on Campbell's appearance in Army of Darkness.
Those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition will receive the Season Pass 1 that, according to PSLS, includes four downloadable content (DLC) packs.
All of these bonuses are also included in the Collector's Edition along with the Savini Variant in-game Skin for Ash, five art cards, a hardcover art book, an exclusive t-shirt, a special edition steel case, and an original vinyl soundtrack. All of these will be enclosed inside a special collectible box.
Evil Dead: The Game, according to Fangoria, takes its players to the asymmetrical world of the Evil Dead as they control the characters from the horror franchise.
Aside from Ash, they can also play as other characters such as Kelly Maxwell and Pablo Simon Bolivar from Ash Vs. The Evil Dead, Scotty and Cheryl Williams from The Evil Dead, and Lord Arthur from Army of Darkness.
In the game, players must work together as a team of four survivors in fighting against the Deadites in different places in the franchise, including the infamous Knowby cabin, using more than 25 weapons, including Ash's iconic Gauntlet, Boomstick, and chainsaw.
They will also need to defeat the other player controlling the Kandarian Demon that can possess anyone from the survivors to stop them from their tracks.
Along the way, they will level up a variety of skill trees that they can use to grow even stronger and survive the night.
Evil Dead: The Game is set to be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PCs on May 13, while the game's version for the Nintendo Switch is scheduled to roll out in the future.
