"Dying Light 2" is out, and it seems like it's a pretty good game. A lot of reviews have come out fairly positive, with most publications agreeing on one thing about it: the excellent first-person parkour and combat mechanics.
Techland made sure that the sequel to their open-world zombie romp will not suffer from what most open-world games suffer from these days: boring traversal and weak, uninteresting combat. As such, this guide will give you a hint on the best parkour and fighting skills to unlock as early as you can to ensure that your journey through the game will be as smooth-sailing as possible.
'Dying Light 2' Best Parkour Skills
Den Of Geek shares all of the parkour skills you can unlock in the game. There's a total of 24 skills to get, but only five stand out. Fortunately, Techland made "Dying Light 2's" skill progression a "practical one"--that is, all you need to do is perform specific moves more often, as well as complete Parkour Challenges scattered across the world. By doing so, your Parkour skill will increase.
Here are the five abilities which you need to get as early as you can:
- Firm Grip: This skill will act as a sort of insurance policy. It will help keep you alive by giving you one last jump to a nearby ledge when your stamina runs out. Perfect for outrunning anyone and anything.
- Active Landing: One of the most jarring things in a parkour-heavy game is broken momentum. With Active Landing, not only do you get a skill that keeps your momentum going after a fall from a height, but it also helps reduce fall damage. However, to get its maximum effect, upgrade this skill to Safe Landing.
- Sleek Runner: Another sort of "insurance policy" which could spell life or death. This skill makes you move faster on unstable structures. It's an excellent choice for staying one step ahead of your enemies.
- Far Jump: With this skill, you gain the ability to use obstacles in the world to perform longer jumps by gaining more momentum. If you want to reach almost any area, get this skill early on.
- Dart/Dash: These two simple skills will help you become far more nimble than almost anyone. With Dart, you get a quick speed burst which will help you clear larger gaps and obstacles.

'Dying Light 2' Combat Skills: The Best Ones
Kotaku shared a handful of the best combat skills to get a headstart early in "Dying Light 2." Here are the few you should focus your attention on:
- Power Attack: In first-person combat, you'll need to dish all the damage you can muster. This skill gives Aiden the ability to deliver a devastating attack that deals high damage and staggers enemies and opens them up for a finishing blow.
- Air Kick: "Dying Light 2's" combat is great, but it's also good to get the drop on enemies before they even know what hit them. Air Kick allows you to perform a jump kick from high up. This is an indispensable ability in a game where you spend much of your time on rooftops.
- Perfect Dodge: It's not too hard to parry attacks in "Dying Light 2." But it is still easier to dodge. Twinfinite.net says that this is the perfect skill to get if you're going for a full melee build. It also goes well with other skills like Grapple and Grapple Throw.
- Block Projectiles: Isn't it annoying that you'll have to deal with people taking potshots at you, all while you're busy clubbing another enemy's head? With the Block Projectiles skill, you don't need to worry about that problem anymore, which can be a lifesaver when you have to deal with tough enemy types that do it a lot in combat.
