'WWE 2K22' Releases New Trailer, Reveals New Gameplay, In-Game Elements

2K Games released a new trailer for WWE 2K22 during the 2022 Royal Rumble, revealing what players expect to see in the latest installment of the WWE 2K series of wrestling games.

The trailer shows new additions, including a new backstage area, a new set of entrances for the wrestlers available in the roster, the gameplay engine, and improvements in the graphics.

What to Expect in WWE 2K22

WWE 2K22's trailer reveals a lot of good news--one of them is redesigned gameplay engine. According to Bleeding Cool, the engine will be coupled with the game's stunning up-to-date graphics to ensure that it will show an unprecedented level of realism, making its players look, feel, and play the game differently. 

The developers also updated the game's intuitive control scheme while adding more varied camera angles to make the players feel the pressure and reward for every punch and kick they will be throwing and every throw and hold they will be executing.

WWE 2K22 is surely different from its previous versions. Previously, the game received a lot of criticisms from its players due to bugs, as well as problems regarding its gameplay mechanics.

The trailer also reveals the returning 2K Showcase, incorporating new features and updates. These features bring iconic characters, including Rey Mysterio, who appears on the game cover and his famous matches.

It also showcases the MyRISE game mode, where players track the progress towards superstardom within WWE 2K22, as well as the Universe Mode, and a newly-upgraded Creation Suite, giving users the ability to customize their experiences, such as creating their wrestlers, including their signature moves and finishers.

Players can also share their creations and the game's global online community with its cross-platform sharing feature. This feature allows them to post creations to other video game platforms, which will be first implemented in a WWE 2K game.

They can also become their very own General Manager of Smackdown!RAW, and NXT, or their own brand, and take over their live events in the MyGM mode while forming their own wrestling faction from the list of wrestlers in MyFaction mode.

Also revealed in the trailer is the improved and expanded backstage area, which according to Gamepur, was shown in a sample gameplay video that contains a brawl between WWE Superstars Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley.

Finally, upgrades on the entrances of the wrestlers in the WWE 2K22's roster has been revealed in the trailer, including Nakamura Shinsuke wearing a crown for his "King Nakamura" gimmick; Seth Rollins wearing a single glove for his "Visionary" gimmick; and the broadsword that Drew McIntyre usually stick to the stage to activate his entrance pyro and the additional facial hair for Brock Lesnar.

The WWE 2K22 Deluxe Edition will be released on Mar. 8, while the game's Standard Edition and its Cross-Gen Bundle will be rolled out on Mar. 11. These versions will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PCs.
