According to Dot Esports, the inspiration behind her simple appearance was based on her kit, which was summed up by the developers of the shooting game as "fast" and "frentic."
They also said that while designing for Neon, they need for it to be aligned to her abilities in order to make her move fast, while supplementing her utility.
They also shared that have researched bioelectricity that can be seen deep in the ocean in order to help them figure out her movements, as well as her abilities.
Neon's Abilities
As mentioned earlier, Neon will enter Valorant as a Duelist, or an Agent that are "self-suffiecient fraggers," according to Ranked Boost. Duelists can create some of the most impact in every match, offering aggression to a team composition where they belong to.
As the attackers of the team, they are expected to seek out engagements first in matches, while getting high frags. They are usually at the forefront when clearing the corners and attacking the bomb sites.
As a Duelist, Neon can initiate fights and clear corners thanks to her speed and abilities. Her E ability, High Gear, according to Endgagdet, allows her to move fast around the map, sprint forward, and slide in and out of combat while wielding her weapons.
She can surprise her enemies around corners with her slides, shooting them right away as she can draw her weapon while doing it. In doing this, she can catch them off guard while holding headshot angles with rapid quickness.
Players who are controlling Neon can right-click while running after activating High Gear to make her slide, which can recharge after getting two kills.
However, they cannot fire their weapon while the skill is activated, and there will be a slight delay when drawing their weapons after sliding.
Her Q ability, Relay Bolt, will allow her to fire a concussive charge that can bounce off to up to two walls.
The said charge, which will detonate on the ground at each point it makes contact, will daze those who are caught in the area, whether be enemy or ally.
They cannot throw the concussive charge while sprinting after activating High Gear, but they can do so while sliding.
Her C ability, Fast Lane, can make her create two parallel walls of static that can obscure vision, which is similar to that of Phoenix' Blaze ability, while letting her sprint and slide in between them.
The said walls, which can travel until they hit a surface, can also deal damage to anyone that were caught in them or walking through them.
Finally, her X Ultimate ability, Overdrive, lets her harness her electric powers to focus into a lightning beam that will be shooting from her fingertips.
After activating said skill, she will move at a speed similar to that from High Gear, and can be reset after getting a kill.
Players can play as Neon in Valorant after the shooting game released its Episode 4 Act 1, which according to Twinfinite, will be launched this coming January 11th.
