Nintendo announced a list of events for Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the month of January, which players will participate. This is right after the open-world life simulation game received a ton of holiday events, as well as seasonal do-it-yourself changes.
The said incoming events for the month include those that give its players catch bugs and fishes in exchange for items.
It will also in-game items that are themed after real-life holidays, all of which will be sold in Nook Shopping. On the other hand, the game will also bring in new critters that they can catch this month.
New Events for January
One of the new events in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that the players who are staying in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere islands can join in is the Fishing Tourney, which will last from 9:00 AM, in-game time, to 6:00 PM, in-game time.

In the said event, according to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, they can talk to CJ, who is staying in a registration tent outside of the Resident Services building, in order to start a timer. Once the timer starts, they will catch as many fish as they can on the beach.
After the timer stops, they will count how many fishes that they have caught. These will be converted into points, which they can use to exchange for event-exclusive items such as Fish Trophies, and those under the Fish Swag set, including furniture and clothing.
In order to exchange said points for a Fish Swag item, according to game8.co, they will talk to CJ, then select "Exchange my Points for Swag." If they give 10 points to the non-playable character (NPC), they will receive a random item.
Players can also participate in the Bug-Off Event, however this will only available in the Southern Hemisphere islands also from 9:00 AM, in-game time, to 6:00 PM, in-game time.
Much like the Fishing Tourney, the Bug-Off Event lets its players catch as many bugs as they can for a limited time, which will be converted into points that they can use to convert into items such as Bug Trophies and Bug-Off Prices, which they can receive from Flick.
New Holiday-Themed Items
Aside from the new events, new holiday-themed items will also be available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, all of which will be in Nook Shopping's inventory.
According to goldkk.com, these include the items themed after New Year's Day, such as a Yut Nori board, a Zodiac Tiger figurine, and a 2022 Celebratory Arch, as well as those that are themed after Shougatsu, or the Japanese New Year, such as a Kadomatsu, a Kagamimochi, a Shimekazari, an Otoshidama Envelope, and an Osenchi bento box.
Those who are hungry after participating in events can dig in with a bowl of Nanakusa Gayu rice porridge, while they can have their hand on a Setsubun to ward off the demons and welcome the new year.
They can also have a Groundhog Day model to determine whether or not the winter season will last longer, while celebrating the Super Bowl with the Big Game item set, which contains the Fiery Cheer, the Football Cheer, the Glittery Cheer, and the Starry Cheer megaphones, as well as a Football rug.
They can also celebrate the Lunar New Year in the game with the Lunar New Year red envelopes and Seollal money bags.
The game will also bring in new do-it-yourself recipes that involved around frozen Snowflakes, which they can collect within the game. Once they have collected them, they can exchange them with furniture sets.
Finally, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will also bring in new bugs, fishes, and sea creatures in the Southern Hemisphere islands, which includes the Brown, Robust, Giant and Evening Cicadas, the Blue Weevil, the Blue Marlin, the Ocean Sunfish, the Moon Jellyfish, and the Horseshoe Crab.
