MLB 14 The Show Out Tomorrow on PS3 and Vita as Opening Day Kicks Off Today, PS4 Version Out May 6

The next entry in critically acclaimed baseball sim series MLB: The Show is getting released tomorrow as MLB Opening Day kicks off today, though we'll have to wait another month for the next generation version. MLB 14: The Show will be out on PS3 and PS Vita in just one more day, with the PS4 version due out May 6.

MLB 14: The Show is drastically improving its "Road to the Show" mode, adding multiple features to the draft experience and allowing you to return to school and re-enter the showcase if you didn't perform satisfactorily.

The new title is also revamping multiple aspects of the game as you would expect with a new player creation system and training modes, all wrapped in a new presentation. The real league began today as the Red Sox begin their attempt at the elusive title defense, and tomorrow you'll be able to embark on your own career. Unless you're waiting to play on PS4--sorry.

The franchise has always been a PlayStation exclusive, as it's published by Sony Computer Entertainment and developed by SCE San Diego. The series debuted in 2006 and has had an entry released every year since. It's generally been received as the superior product to 2K Sports' MLB 2K series, even though the experience has been limited to lucky PlayStation owners.

The MLB 2K series was discontinued last year after 2013's poor entry that added no new games modes or features. It's unclear if competition for The Show will return in near the future from 2K or elsewhere, with EA having been locked out in the past by 2K's exclusive MLB rights contract.
