I'm a diehard Google guy. I've been on Android for five years now, I've bought Nexus tablets, I use all of their services.
But man, when April 1 is right around the corner I really hate Google, because they release the coolest fake stuff!
This year's April Fools' Day gag features Google Maps Pokemon, a geo-tagging minigame set within Google Maps where everyone in the world is invited to find AR Pokemon on their iPhone or Android and "catch 'em all" to become Google's officially-employed Pokemon Master. The "deadline" to catch all of the Pokemon is apparently April 2, so get busy!
I tell you what, if this wasn't clearly a hoax I'd be at the bank right now taking out a loan to finance my fighter jet to tour the world in pursuit of Poke-perfection. Someone start a Kickstarter for this or something! It worked for Veronica Mars, right?!
This marks just the latest in literally dozens of hoaxes Google has pulled off throughout the years. Some of my personal favorites were Google Translate for Animals, Google Maps Treasure Mode and Comic Sans for Everyone.
Check out the video below, have a good cry because it's not happening, and then check out this Wikipedia entry listing all of the Google hoaxes and let us know your favorite.
