A week ago, rumors have spread that Ubisoft might be working on a new "Far Cry" game. A local newspaper from Montana reported that there was a live-action trailer being filmed near the area. Several speculations have hinted that the film could be the ad for "Red Dead Redemption 2". Meanwhile, some sources have uncovered that the French developer previously hinted their interest with a Western setting for a new game.
According to Game Rant's report, Kotaku's Jason Schreier claims that the live-action trailer filming in Montana is not for "Red Dead Redemption 2". He said, "I think it's the next game in a different series that I've heard is set in a location that sounds a lot like this." He also pointed out that "Rockstar doesn't do live-action trailers, after all." Sources then started to speculate that the commercial might be for a new "Far Cry" game.
VG24/7 also confirmed that Jeff Guillot is in charge of the live-action trailer. The director apparently also directed trailers for Ubisoft games like "Red Steel 2" and "Driver" in the past. During his interview with the Great Falls Tribune, he shared that the trailer he is working on is for a game that will be released this September. It was also noted that the title is a "sequel" to an "existing global franchise." A survey conducted by the developer back in 2015 considered a "Far Cry" game with a "Western Theme".
During Ubisoft's fiscal reporting, the developer presented four major games within the fiscal year. Sources are certain that one of those games will be an "Assassin's Creed" title, which was rumored to launch sometime this fall. Another game rumored to launch within the year is the "South Park" game sequel. It seems to make sense that the developer also has a new "Far Cry" title in the works for a 2017 release.
