Rockstar will release the much-desired PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 in the early part of this year, according to Eurogamer's sources. This is unconfirmed for the time being and should be taken as a rumor, but the release of the game itself is seemingly inevitable- it's more a question of when.
Eurogamer states in a report, "Multiple industry sources have indicated the open world game, currently available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will come out on PC in the first quarter of 2014."
As states, the existence of a PC version itself will come as no surprise to anyone. It remains to be seen whether the sources cited are correct in regards to when it will be released, but such timing would follow a similar schedule to how Grand Theft Auto 4 rolled out. The previous game in the series was released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in April 2008 and came out for PC in December of the same year.
A PC version of GTA V was mentioned by Nvidia during a financial call in August, though they were quick to state that it was a mistake and they had no knowledge of any plans for the game on PC.
"[PC] gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin's Creed 4," they had said, but later stated, "Nvidia does not have information on any possible PC version release of Grand Theft Auto or its availability. We deeply regret the error."
Amazingly, Eurogamer mentions, nearly 600,000 people have signed a Change.org petition calling on Rockstar to release GTA5 on PC. If the site's sources are correct, their wish will come true pretty soon.
