Katsuhiro Harada Shares New Details About 'Tekken 7'

After years of being available only for the arcades, Tekken 7 is finally scheduled to release for consoles and for the first time on PC. While most gamers can view videos online to check out information about the latest fighter from Bandai Namco, there is very few information about the console versions of the game. Katsuhiro Harada was able to sit down for an interview to answer some questions about the fighting game.

Guest characters

Just recently, Katsuhiro Harada posted on his Twitter account to urge fans to submit their guest character requests for "Tekken 7", says Gamespot. It was noted that most of the requests wanted to have Kazuma from Sega's Yakuza series join the roster. The producer claimed he was surprised that even western gamers wanted the character. He explained that guest characters are complicated since Bandai Namco would have to approach another studio to discuss a deal for their character. Gamers have already seen Akuma as the first guest character for the game.

Rage quit penalty system

It is one of the most frustrating aspects of playing fighting games online when the opponent suddenly disconnects to avoid a loss. Katsuhiro Harada said, "you can't keep someone from physically pulling out the LAN cable" so penalties should be in place. Claims that Bandai Namco already has a plan for "Tekken 7", but it remains confidential for now.

Console version extras

Ever since Bandai Namco started porting the "Tekken" games to consoles, they have usually included a bunch of extra modes or features. The console version of "Tekken 7" will reportedly feature a third-person shooter element during the story mode. However, it was not confirmed if it will be included as a separate game mode. Katsuhiro Harada was also asked if the game might come to the Nintendo Switch, but he notes that it might not due to some hardware issues.

Cross-platform play

"Tekken 7" producer Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that he wants to encourage cross-platform play for a game. He claims that technology was never the problem rather, it is the security protocols involved to make it happen. It looks like cross-platform play won't be possible just yet.

Roger Jr. dropped from roster

Katsuhiro Harada talked to VG24/7 to discuss the removal of Roger Jr. from "Tekken 7". He explained that they had to remove the fighter to prevent backlash from animal activists. He notes that a recent video of a man punching a kangaroo in the face pushed Bandai Namco to have him removed from the roster.

"Tekken 7" is scheduled to release for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 on June 2. The game was originally scheduled to release earlier but Katsuhiro Harada wanted more content for gamers.
