Project Scorpio is nearing its release. Hype needs to be built around the console to increase the chances of a successful launch and Microsoft’s PR offices are good at this task. Even though the Project Scorpio is still hidden under a veil, the developer kit has been revealed and it is rather impressive.
GameRant has released and image of the Project Scorpio Developer Kit. The small, lean, white and black box highly resembles the XBOX One, but this is not a coincidence. It is Microsoft’s policy for all XBOX related product to share a common theme and the developer kit is not much different from that. When it comes to the technical specifics of the developer kit, it will surpass the official console in power. To justify this decision, XBOX platform manager, Kevin Gammill has shared that it is much easier for developers to scale down their projects in order to keep them functioning on the console, to trying to get things exactly right or build them bigger from the console’s limitations.
This brings about the question of just how powerful is the Scorpio. Trusted Reviews has shared a full tech spec review of the product in order to give readers a basic idea of the console’s power. The Scorpio will have eight core, 2.3 GHz processor. The GPU has 40 computational units, working at 1172MHz. The processor and GPU will have access to 12GB GDDR 5 RAM memory. The HDD storage has been set on 1TB and the data transportation will happen with a bandwidth of 326GB/s.
What do these tech specs mean when it comes to gameplay? Well, Yahoo shares that Project Scorpio will be the most powerful console to ever be released. It will be capable of delivering 4K graphics, 4K textures, and up to 50% shorter loading times than the XBOX One. Paired with Microsoft's XBOX Gold policy, this may be the console, which will bring Microsoft back to the console market. The truth will soon be revealed. Project Scorpio’s release date has not yet been revealed.
