After the departure controversy of his former show "Top Gear," Jeremy Clarkson with Richard Hammond and James May are now on a new Amazon Original TV show "The Grand Tour." The show "The Grand Tour" will reunite former "Top Gear" hosts with the first season taking place in far-flung locales across the globe. Amazon seems like it is about to walk through the deeper competition with Netflix.
James May will be one of the hosts of the new Amazon Original "The Grand Tour." He stated that "By December we will be launching the show throughout the globe, which means you will be able to watch in over 200 countries around the world."
According to Digital Spy, "The Grand Tour" retains almost all of the talent from the BBC's global hit "Top Gear" and has become Amazon's flagship. Announcing that the new show is ready to roll through 200 nations suggests that Amazon has made the necessary investments to offer streamed videos around the world.
Even though Amazon is close to a provider of the necessary infrastructure, which is Amazon Web Services, it is hard to imagine that it would go to all the trouble of global rollout just so that customers can enjoy the series. "The Grand Tour" hosts will be Clarkson, Hammond and May.
According to The Register, Netflix is known to have done lots of deals to ensure its content doesn't inconvenience and hassle the carriers. Amazon provides Netflix's infrastructure, so it is almost certainly aware of how to get plenty of the pieces in place for the effort of "The Grand Tour" global streaming without panicking local carriers.
The studio portion of the show takes place in a travelling tent. The locations ranging from Johannesburg to California, Scotland to Rotterdam, Whitby in North Yorkshire to Stuttgart, and Lapland to Nashville. The final stop is in Dubai.
The first episode kicked off in California, when Jeremy, Richard and James took their famous studio tent to the Dry Rabbit Lake. "The Grand Tour" has an initial agreement of 36 episodes over the period of three years. The show started on November 18, 2016. In December 2016, it will be released to 200 countries and various territories worldwide.
