Galaxy S7 Edge Explodes while Charging in the US

Samsung is under fire after frequent reports of their Galaxy Note 7 exploding and suddenly bursting in flames. However, this may not be the only problem the company will be facing as another of their flagship phone, the Galaxy S7 Edge which was released last March, had the same type of reports.

An employee of a big wireless carrier in the U.S. has been hit with bad luck from Samsung. Initially, the person owned a Galaxy Note 7 version 2, the one with the supposed safe battery which was the replacement unit for Note 7 owners when the exploding battery issue began. After the company issued a global recall, he then had the unit replaced with a Galaxy S7 Edge. While charging the device one night with the original included charger, the phone suddenly exploded, according to Fortune.

No injuries and minimal damages were sustained. Samsung is yet to release a statement regarding the specific Galaxy S7 Edge incident, however, the company has made a statement during a different case involving the same unit catching fire. There have been a total of two recent reported cases of an exploding S7 Edge. The other one is a Canadian owner driving home from work when his unit erupted, according to Economic Times.

Despite reports, Samsung is not going to pull out the relatively new device from the market. The frequency is still within the limits and deemed normal. Devices with lithium-ion batteries theoretically have the tendency to explode. Nevertheless, during the most controversial Galaxy S7 Edge exploding case involving a man in Ohio whom reportedly received second and third degree burns, the company said that they will be investigating the case. The victim is suing the company for his injuries.

This might be the greatest setback Samsung has experienced. Their Galaxy Note 7 fiasco will cost them $3 billion dollars in the end. The less controversial Galaxy S7 Edge is not helping in overcoming that lost.
