"God Eater Online," the first game in the franchise for mobile devices, was confirmed to be in development in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The release date has yet to be announced, although Bandai Namco is set to provide more details at a stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2016.
"God Eater Online" will be set in an MMO environment and players can work together and use various play styles and play cycles that are not available in previous "God Eater" titles. According to the development team, they are also currently working on a "God Eater" game for consoles, although they refused to provide more details about the project. They teased, however, that they will provide more information at Tokyo Game Show 2016 on September 17. Bandai Namco will has a scheduled "New Game Presentation" at 3:30 p.m.
Gematsu revealed that Bandai Namco aims for more people to play "God Eater" by making it free to play and crossing it with an MMO. The classic Aragami Hunt with God Arcs will still be in "God Eater Online. If there a powerful enemy that comes out on the field, players can ask for support from others nearby so they can create a party immediately to fight it. After using one step, players can break away from the enemy, followed by devour combos. The objective of "God Eater Online" is to have 100 people on a single field.
The game setting generally has the same time axis as previous "God Eater" games, although it is not a parallel world, writes Touch Arcade. The concept of levels is available and players can match their acquired skill points to every parameter. There are several items to use that will affect various actions. A story mission will require about 10 minutes to complete, so players will stay in MMO spaces for a short while only. Story missions can be played solo, but NPCs may join.
The game developers aim to include all the God Arcs and guns that are present in the series. The idea of easily moving in and out of MMOs and requesting other players to form parties as necessary makes it easier to play "God Eater Online." The release date of "God Eater Online" is expected to be announced soon.
