Bethesda is set to come out with a remastered “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered edition this Fall, something that will have to do with no word on an “Elder Scrolls VI”. Unfortunately, gamers will not get the same flexibility of using mods on the PC or the Xbox One with Bethesda and Sony failing to come up with something workable tied up to mods.
The bad news came from Bethesda, explaining via its website the botched talks as both sides failed to come to an agreement. Sony was believed to be wary of copyright issues as well as compatibility with mods with the PS platform.
Microsoft had its share of problems with the Xbox but was able to work around it to the Xbox One gamers’ delight. Sony didn’t seem ready to undergo the same process as it focuses more on its actual games for its circle of gamers.
Will it impact the “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered version?
Seeing that the remastered version of “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” offers nothing more than improved graphics for now with the nixing of mod support. As mentioned in a previous post, it was one of the striking features that could have garnered interest in lieu of “Elder Scrolls 6”.
Now the landscape totally changes and Sony may have only themselves to blame. A copy of the “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” will reportedly cost $60 a pop. PC users can get it for free.
It would be safe to say that the excitement for the “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered version has somehow died down after the iteration of one of the main selling points of the game.
PC and Xbox One versions are likely better choices with the move, something that Sony may pay for dearly – that is if they care. All that should be known come the Fall once, “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered version comes out in the open.
