Recently, PewDiePie was quoted on an advert for Techland's new game, Dying Light. This quote has been surrounded in controversy because it seems the star was paid to play the game in one of his videos where the quote was taken from. PewDiePie has remained mostly silent around the issue but two tweets point to his displeasure with the quote.
PewDiePie Gets A Blurb On Dying Light Advertisement, The Internet Meets The Real World
I love this game. It's soooo awesome! - IGN
— Felix Kjellberg (@pewdiepie) January 28, 2015
In the first the first he repeats the quote attributing to IGN. The thing about the line is that it's very generic and could have been said by anyone. Pewds is right that it's hardly an endorsement at all, just sort of a personal reflection. Later when confronted about the matter the YouTube star claims that he doesn't even remember saying anything like that. This is also believable as the line is so throwaway that, again, anyone could have said it about any game.

Dying Light Endorsement May Have Been Paid For, PewDiePie In Ethical Hot Water
This whole ordeal points to a very significant problem. Unlike actual journalists who are called to task for their words, the world of vlogging is not so intensely scrutinized leaving great areas were the usage of their work becomes questionable.
PewDiePie has not remarked on whether or not he was paid for the video or gave permission for his quote to be used to sell their product. His tweets don't seem to be in support of the action. From the video it does appear that that he had a good time playing the game however, if he was paid, we can't be sure that's genuine.
