EA Mobile has just released the latest update for The Simpsons: Tapped Out, which is pretty directly influenced by the super-popular Clash of Clans. Rally the barbarians, attack your friends, and defend your castle!

The game introduces a new Barbarian character who will chase Homer around with an axe for a few hours before settling down to drink beer or three with him. Along with him comes a Barbarian Castle, which you will have to place in your neighborhood and get ready to defend. Every two hours it will supply you with ten Nerds that can be used to attack your friends Springfields, or just anonymous players. Attacking a neighborhood is simple enough- you pick a building to attack and decide how many Nerds you should attack it with. Each Nerd will take an hour off the attack time.
If you're being attacked by another player you won't know it until you get a notification, which encourages you to check the game regularly to prevent and possible attacks and defend your town. Defending and attacking gains you Elixir, a new currency that is used to improve your defenses, making it so that it takes longer to attack your castle and neighboring buildings. You will also earn gold that will net prizes and unlockable characters, including Barbarian Homer, Archer Lisa, and many more.
Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff Comic Con Update Features Stan Lee
It's obviously heavily cribbing from Clash of Clans but they're not trying to hide who they take influence from. In the update Homer pretty brazenly talks to his new Barbarian friend about how fun the game he comes from is, and how much more fun it sounds than his lame game, which features Easter updates and friendship points.
The game will of course offer many more items to purchase, mostly medieval-themed, including stocks, towers, catapults, and banners. Carts of hay are also available for any aspiring assassins. If anything, the update offers a new way to play and a great opportunity to raze your friend's buildings to the ground.
