Rainbow Six Siege's New Monthly Subscription Service Plan Receives Widespread Criticism

Rainbow Six Siege developer Ubisoft recently announced a new monthly subscription service for the popular shooter game that did not go down well among players in the community.

This comes as the game has been a massive success for the company for nearly a decade now and shows no signs of slowing down. The game was able to set an all-new record for concurrent players on Steam in March, peaking at more than 201,000.

However, not all players are excited about the game's weekend announcement of a new subscription service known as R6 Membership. This new feature promises exclusive content drops, animated skins, and premium battle pass access for $10 every month.

Rainbow Six Siege is also releasing its year 9 season 2 soon which will feature a "complete remaster" of the Recruit, which is the original Operator of the game.

It will be getting a new look and new attacker and defender archetypes to enable two different gadgets being selected depending on the chosen role, according to PCGamer.

On top of the new operator, the upcoming season also gives premium battle pass owners a voucher that they can redeem for any operator that is currently in the lineup. For those who already own all of the game's operators, they will instead receive 600 R6 Credits.

The new update will also implement a nerf to the defenders Fenrir and Solis who were said to be too strong in matches and demanded significant attention from attackers. One of the changes includes reducing the number of F-Natt Dread Mines that Fenrir can carry.

On the other hand, Solis' SPEC-IO sensor has been given a reduced duration and had its range shortened. There is also a new Endless Drill mode that will let you improve your abilities without being mercilessly pounded by other people.

Despite these changes with the upcoming update, the announcement of the new R6 Membership was not forgotten. During the Blast R6 Major Manchester 2024 esports event, people who watched the announced video for the new program chanted boos, said WCCFTech.

How Does it Work?

Even with this negative feedback, there is a high chance that players will still sign up for Rainbow Six Siege's R6 Membership program. It will replace the Year Pass that was previously available and will be integrated into the current BattlePass system.

With the new program, players will be able to access a variety of privileges, including a 10% discount on all Shop items, 30% faster BattlePass progression across the duration of the membership, 10 BattlePass tokens, and one Bravo Pack filled with exciting cosmetics.

All of these perks will be available as soon as players sign up for the membership and will be given out each month during the rebelling date whenever the membership is renewed. That would mean that through the three months of a single season in the game, players will get these rewards thrice.

There are also other exclusive cosmetics that players can get for subscribing, such as one full epic bundle and one legendary item. Both of these will be given out on the 28th of each month, according to Sportskeeda.
