Bellwright's Road to Recovery Continues With Series of Updates After Troubled Launch

Bellwright suffered a troubled launch on Steam due to a variety of issues but is currently on its road to recovery with a series of updates to address its problems.

The game has a medieval setting that is very popular among players in modern times and features success from various titles, such as Manor Lords. When Bellwright was released, it received a lot of negative reviews on Steam.

But the developer, Donkey Crew, is working hard to provide regular updates, resulting in Bellwright's player count and user score slowly climbing. The updates include a variety of bug fixes and the introduction of additional features.

When Bellwright was launched, it received "mixed" Steam user reviews and had a 52% rating. But daily updates that have rolled out since the game's early access caused the rating to rise to 72% with a "mostly positive" user review summary.

Nearly two weeks after the game launched, Bellwright now sits at 77% and its concurrent player count has risen to a peak of 13,709. The new survival RPG has now consistently topped 11,000 concurrent players every day, according to PCGamesN.

So far, Donkey Crew seems to be eager to continue iterating and polishing on that solid base with updates that are arriving on a daily basis throughout the week.

Over the last five days, Bellwright has received updates that include improvements to the raid mechanics, increased warehouse storage, the ability to add rules and filters to the food cellar, worked recipes and research options, improved logic for production chains, and many more.

Other than the major fixes, there have also been a lot of smaller quality-of-life tweaks, bug fixes, and solutions for common crashes. So far, player response to Donkey Crew's efforts has been relatively positive.

The developer also noted that it is currently working on a feature roadmap to share with the players of Bellwright. It is where they expect to get a clearer idea of what the upcoming weeks and months look like for the RPG game.

Fixing a Variety of Issues

The game's 11th hotfix, which was released on May 3, 2024, included a variety of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. It also fixes a scenario where players' buildings get stuck in a construction phase, said HardDrive.

The hotfix added visual technology unlocks for the Advanced Research Desk to suggest that it is a part of the Village Hall. Iron Nails also became craftable in Toolmaker as the description suggests.

Crows will also now spawn in a more predictable way in order to help players track the flying creatures down. Cottage research requirement also changed from Craftsman to Engineer and Salve research requirement was changed from Herbalist to Healer.

In the world of Bellwright, players will not only have to survive but also thrive in the harsh conditions of the unknown outside world. You will take control of a person who was wrongfully accused of murdering the Prince and has been sentenced to death.

You must now slowly but surely rebuild and manage your own rebellion and uncover the hidden truth of what actually happened to the Prince. While the game supports co-op play, it is not required to enjoy the adventure it offers, according to MMORPG.
