Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Releases Our Story Begins Trailer Ahead of Switch Launch

Nintendo Releasing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in May, Releases Our Story Begins Trailer

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door released its Our Story Begins trailer ahead of the game's Nintendo Switch launch in May.

The release of the remake will also offer players in the United Kingdom with a bonus alongside the special bundle of the game, which is an adorable diorama featuring characters from the title. The buildable battle stage includes Mario and Goombella side-by-side facing off against Lord Crump, Koopa Troopa, Bob-omb, Goomba, and Chain Chomp.

Both the heroes and villains of the game are on stage while being watched by an audience filled with Toads, Koopas, and Goombas. The special bundle also features three rubber keychains that are included as pre-order bonuses.

The announcement for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door coming to the Nintendo Switch was made in September last year. The title is part of Nintendo's long-running RPG sub-series that was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2004.

It was made as a follow-up to the Paper Mario game that was released in the 2000s and serves as the second entry in six games for the Paper Mario franchise. The latest installment in the series was released in 2020, Paper Mario: The Origami King, according to GameSpot.

Nintendo revealed earlier this month that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will have a release date of May 23, 2024. The remaster of the original game will feature enhanced visuals, a rearranged soundtrack, and more. Fans could also see that the gaming company changed something about its game releases with the release date for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

This is because the remaster is coming out on a Thursday, which will also be the case for Luigi's Mansion 2 HD and Endless Ocean Luminous. Prior to these titles, Nintendo has always released its games for the Switch on Fridays.

The release of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has caused many fans to act quickly and the game has already sold out at some retailers, including Amazon. The company has the game as its best-seller that was able to surpass games like Dragon's Dogma 2.

Sold Out at Various Retailers

The remake for the title is Nintendo's second in the Mario RPG universe with the first being Super Mario RPG. The latter was a game that was initially released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, said GameRant.

Some players might be wondering how a Mario RPG was able to overcome titles like Dragon's Dogma 2. This is primarily because Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is considered one of the best GameCube games to date since its release nearly two decades ago.

The game features the nefarious X-Nauts going after the treasure stored behind the Thousand-Year Door. Mario will have to journey through a colorful and vibrant world using a map from Princess Peach and some help from a few locals.

To succeed, players will have to level Mario up as well as his friends, master timing-based attacks and badges to impress the audience on the stage of combat and utilize their abilities as being made of paper as best they can, according to Gematsu.
