What Are Combat Styles in Rise of the Ronin?
Each combat style in the game matches a weapon. There are nine weapons to choose from, giving players lots of options. When you pick a Blade Sharpening Origin, the game suggests weapons that fit it best. For example, if you choose the "Killer" origin, the game recommends using the Katana, Greatsword, or Odachi.
Each weapon, like the Katana, has different combat styles. Some are available from the start, while others need to be unlocked. This system encourages players to try different weapon combinations and adapt their fighting style as needed.
How to Unlock New Combat Styles
Unlocking new combat styles in Rise of the Ronin requires following certain steps:
- Bonding with Characters: To unlock some styles, you need to build relationships with certain characters. For instance, to get the Nodachi Jigen-ryu style, you need to become better friends with Gonzo. This means giving him gifts, completing missions together, and having good conversations with him.
- Alternative Routes: Some styles can be unlocked in different ways. For example, to get the Kihetai Style of the Oxtail Blade, you can either become closer to Shinsaku Takasugi or defeat Green-Eye Sanzaemon in Hodogaya.
- Story Progression: As you play through the game's story, you'll naturally unlock new combat styles. This might take longer, but it means you don't have to do extra side quests.
Once you unlock a new combat style, you can use it by going to the Equipment tab and assigning it. You can also make your combat styles stronger by meeting specific requirements listed on their cards.
