Gamers should rejoice as plans for a $280 million Esports island at the heart of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are moving forward.
The effort is being spearheaded by a global network of Esports clubs, True Gamers, which projects a return on investment within the next decade. There are currently discussions ongoing with investors to secure the necessary funding to start construction of the gaming island.
Esports Island in the UAE
The island would include a professional training facility, a state-of-the-art venue for various Esports tournaments, and spaces for content creators to work in. Professional and aspiring Esports teams will be able to access the island's bootcamp programs that offer advanced analytical tools, high-tech computers, rest areas, and balanced nutrition programs.
There are also children's Esports camps that will be available to nurture future gamers in the industry. People who visit the gaming island can look forward to a variety of unique activities, such as a PlayerUnknown's Battleground (PUBG) inspired parachute jump check-in, according to OneEsports.
There will be four main areas on the island, each offering distinct experiences to gamers and visitors alike. The Digital Tower is a business hub that features modern workplaces, startup accelerators, cutting-edge technology, and animation studios.
GG Bootcamps provide professional players with an optimal environment to prepare for their tournaments and games. The GG Resort is a luxury hotel experience for guests that has 200 exquisite rooms with high-performance computers of their own.
Lastly, the TG Arena is a premier facility that is designed for international Esports tournaments, digital exhibitions, and conferences. It is adaptable to a varying number of gaming genres and competition formats.

It offers specialized zones such as a computer club that has 100 high-performance computers, a car simulator area with 20 platforms, a console zone with 20 units, and a fully-equipped streaming area.
The development of True Gamers' gaming island will no doubt revolutionize the industry's landscape in the UAE. The project has already received attention and interest from potential investors and the project head is engaging with strategic partners who share their vision of the island, said VPEsports.
Revolutionizing the Gaming Industry
True Gamers actively collaborated with Esports teams worldwide during the process of developing the project to identify the essential requirements for creating an optimal bootcamp environment.
These efforts spanned six months and included extensive surveys and research that were conducted with more than 100 relevant organizations. True Gamers also emphasized gathering feedback from participants who represented more than 30 teams across various regions, such as Eastern Europe, the MENA region, and North and Latin America.
Notable industry leaders that played a crucial role in the process were Virtus.Pro, Team Spirit, and BetBoom. They contributed their expertise and shared their experiences to the benefit of the project.
The efforts come as True Gamers was founded in 2019 and earlier this year signed an agreement to open 150 clubs in Saudi Arabia. This plan was accompanied by an investment of $45 million and a franchise deal with Saudi entrepreneur Nawaf Al-Bishri.
The gaming island project is also in a positive light as demographics in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are supportive of the gaming push, according to The Circuit.
