Changes in Season 4
Diablo 4 operates on a live-service model, featuring a seasonal system akin to its predecessor, Diablo 3. Each season brings a new theme, characters, content, and features to enhance the gaming experience. Currently in the Season of the Construct, Diablo 4 has seen the introduction of formidable foes and powerful allies, such as the Seneschal Companion.
Season 4, scheduled to commence on May 14, will extend the Season of Construct with a host of game-changing alterations. One of the primary focuses will be on itemization, emphasizing quality over quantity. Players can anticipate fewer loot drops, but with significantly improved quality. Additionally, the removal of unused Affixes, alongside the introduction of specific item rarities restricted to certain World Tiers, aims to streamline the looting experience.
Simplification and Enhancements
Furthermore, Season 4 will witness the simplification of Diablo 4's Gem system, offering players the option to sell Gems for increased gold. Notably, the drop rates of coveted Uniques will be adjusted, with earlier appearances in lower World Tiers. Uber Uniques will also see adjustments in drop rates, catering to higher-level gameplay.
In addition to these changes, Diablo 4 Season 4 will introduce updates to various game systems, including the Codex of Power, Tempering, and Greater Affixes. The introduction of the Masterworking item upgrade system promises to enhance gameplay across all character classes.
Player Engagement and Testing
For players eager to experience the Season 4 changes firsthand, a Public Test Realm (PTR) will be available from April 4 to 9. This testing phase allows players to provide feedback and enables the developers to fine-tune the gameplay experience. By making endgame content more accessible, simplifying game systems, and offering greater item control, the developers aim to cater to both hardcore enthusiasts and casual players within the Diablo community.
